Technically Computer Literate

I use my computer to do simple daily activities like reading and writing emails, writing papers, updating resumes, chatting through AIM, exploring long lost friends lives through Facebook etc. All these tasks come natural to me which led to the belief that I was "technically computer literate", right? Right in a few aspects. I am "computer literate" compared to my Dad, Mom, Grandparents and 2 year old brother because he can't yet reach the computer!
In other words I have a lot to learn compared to the majority of the rest of New York City. For example I just recently took it upon myself to learn more of the Microsoft Office programs, including excel, not really because I had an impending urge to learn how to create a spread sheet but simply because I had too many students in my class to keep track of with pen and paper! This is really quite ridiculous. To survive in the present where virtually every aspect of life is in some way related to computer research and technology, I had to be more than "Technically Computer Literate".
Here in lies the beginning of my technological journey through the world of computers. (As a side note I am also taking a Technology Resources class as part of my graduate work in Music Education.) This course will serve as the bridge to my "computer savvy" destination
